PPA
A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is a financial arrangement in which a third-party developer owns, operates, and maintains the photovoltaic (PV) system, and a host customer agrees to site the system on its property and purchases the system's electric output from the solar services provider for a predetermined period. This financial agreement allows the host customer to receive stable and often low-cost electricity, while the solar services provider or developer gets the economic benefits of any tax credits and income generated from the sale of electricity to the host customer.
No Upfront Capital Costs: The developer handles the upfront costs of sizing, procuring, and installing the solar PV system. Without any upfront investment, the host customer can adopt solar and begin saving on energy costs immediately.
Reduced Energy Costs: PPAs often offer a fixed, predictable rate for the electricity generated, which can be lower than the local utility's electricity rate. This helps in saving on electricity costs over time.
Limited Risk: The developer is responsible for the performance and maintenance of the system, so the host customer has minimal risk related to the system.
Potential for Environmental Credits: Depending on the local regulations and market, the host customer may be able to claim environmental credits for hosting a renewable energy system.
Flexible Terms: At the end of the PPA contract term, a customer may be able to extend the PPA, have the system removed, or choose to buy the solar energy system from the developer.

Lager Scale VEEC
Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) are an integral part of the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, designed to encourage energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Victoria. These certificates represent a tonne of greenhouse gas emissions reduction and are created when specified energy-efficient activities are undertaken in residential or non-residential premises. Energy retailers who are obligated under the program purchase VEECs to meet their annual emissions reduction targets.
